The roots of Pro Care Landscape, Inc. date back to 1974 when the company was first started. The small company of five employees provided only general mowing services until 1986 when Verlin Gillingham and his son Colin purchased the company. Verlin brought 25 years of successful real estate and agriculture experience to the company. Colin, a business and accounting graduate, operated a real estate sales & development business in northern Minnesota. Colin was also active in the family’s farm. With their land and leased land, they cropped up to 2,500 acres.
You acquire strong conventional wisdom cropping 2,500 acres. You only have one chance to put in a crop the right way so you combine all the past experiences and all the modern research together with the proper equipment to install the crop and then you care for the plants to ensure their health and production. The switch from agriculture to horticulture was a natural one.
Each year while vacationing in Florida the urge to move to the Sunshine State grew stronger. Verlin and wife Johanna made the move to Florida in 1983. Colin and wife Dawn followed in 1986. A second son, John joined the company in 1996.
That was then. Today, Pro Care Landscape, Inc. has a full service arsenal for total grounds maintenance and landscape renovation. Specializing in commercial grounds maintenance, Pro Care Landscape, Inc. currently maintains the landscape for over 90 condominiums, business and industrial developments.
Pro Care Landscape, Inc. is not a franchise or part of a satellite of a larger corporation with out of the area headquarters. We are a financially strong, family owned and operated business with a central office and shop location in north St. Petersburg.
